Summary: Fraser thinks Ray is the most turtle like person he has ever met.
Fraser watched as Ray slept. Fraser wanted to touch Ray's naked sleep warm skin now that he could let himself, but he didn't want the moment broken by Ray waking up. It was one of those rare moments where Ray was completely bare, in more way than one.
Fraser always thought Ray having a pet turtle was strangely appropriate. Perhaps turtles even called to Ray on an instinctual level. While Deif and Ray did have similar eating habits (and Ray's temper made him as unpredictable as a wild wolf) Ray seemed more turtle like than anyone Fraser had ever met. Even if like Turtle, Fraser did enjoy a crisp apple.
Like a turtle that hid within a shell of hard scutes, Ray hid behind the mask of a Chicago hard guy. Fraser had seen the mask slip a few times, whenever Ray would talk about his dad or Stella, he would get a look on his face that Fraser knew all too well, but as with most things Fraser had wanted more.
Ray grumbled, rolled over and nuzzled Fraser's neck and Fraser smiled and held Ray tighter. The mask was gone and all that was left was Ray, just Ray.
