Ray walked into his apartment, carrying a large pizza box. The smell of pineapple and cheese made his mouth water. As Ray sat the pizza down on the kitchen counter, he heard the shower running. Ray was so distracted by the thought of just skipping the pizza and joining Fraser in the shower, that he knocked Fraser's teacup off the counter. Ray grabbed the cup before it hit the floor.
The cup's ceramic handle seemed delicate against his thumb. Delicate like the porcelain turtles his mom kept on a shelf, next to his dad's model cars.
Ray sat the cup back down on the counter and he looked around his apartment.
Everywhere Ray looked, he saw a piece of Fraser's life mixed with his own. Fraser's Stetson and Ray's leather jacket hung next to each other on the coat rack. Dief was fast asleep on top of Ray's poncho. On the coffee table sat an empty milk carton on top of a coaster.
Ray didn't know whether that was exciting or terrifying. He still remembered how he felt after his divorce, when Stella had taken the pieces of her life back. It had hurt like a kick to the gut.
